Humala Victory: Initial Thoughts

With just under 88% of the votes counted in the final round of Peru's presidential election, a victory by left-wing Ollanta Humala now looks almost certain. While a large degree of policy uncertainty remains, it is looking increasingly possible that the new government will pursue more moderate economic and social policies than initially thought, implying less of a risk to Peru's investment climate and growth trajectory.
