GHS: Gentle Appreciation In 2012

Although the Ghanaian cedi has tentatively staged a comeback following the sharp sell-off witnessed in October, we are not convinced that the currency will hold its ground. Rather, we believe that downside pressures remain dominant given fast-rising imports, the drying up of foreign portfolio inflows and shaky confidence in the local market regarding the prospects for the cedi.
