Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin has suggested that ex-Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky's tax avoidance trial (beginning on May 7) will not be the end of the state's investigations into the oil firm. This has highlighted the worsening relations between the Kremlin and the oligarchs. However, a potentially more serious escalation of these recent trends has been the news that the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydro-electric plant had been formally transferred from dominant electricity generator UES to the state.
