Local elections scheduled for September 19 are likely to cause political noise in Serbia, given the risk of losses by the ruling pro-reformist Democratic Party (DSS). A survey published at the beginning of August indicates that popular opinion is still with the ultra-nationalists, after the Radical Party won 45% of the votes at June's presidential elections. According to the Human Rights Ministry, 62% in that survey felt that extradition of Serbian police and army officials accused of war crimes was not in the country's interests, while only 4% believed they were guilty of war crimes in Kosovo.
