May 2005 | Market StrategyRegardless of who wins Iran's June 17 Presidential elections, the challenges the position entails are formidable. For a pro-regime conservative, the need to defend the Islamic Republic's nuclear activity and human rights record is likely to be intensified in the months following the election, given the escalating tensions with the US. The job would be no easier for a reformist, such as prospective candidate Mohammad Moin, who has said that misadministration is one of the major national problems, and promised to focus on unemployment and address the issues of political deadlocks and dictatorship.
