April 2006 | Currency ForecastIn an effort to tackle inflation and protect against external shocks, the Banco Central de Costa Rica plans to implement an inflation-targeting regime, and to replace the current crawling peg depreciation mechanism, which has been around since the 1980s (aside from a brief period in the early 1990s), with a more flexible exchange rate system.
