The latest edition of our sovereign risk ratings capture two key developments that unfolded in 2006 and that will (we expect) unfold in 2007. The first theme we have observed is that the 'willingness to pay' of our constituent countries has improved nearly across the board. This reflects the conclusion of the 'year of the election' in Latin America in 2006, which for most countries in the region resulted in the election, or return to office, of market-friendly administrations.
