Clashes A Harbinger Of Trouble To Come?
October 2008 | Market StrategyIn a dramatic escalation of events, Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat has ordered the police to break through a siege held by the opposition People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) after thousands of PAD supporters blocked routes to parliament to prevent the PM from delivering his first policy speech today, October 7. The PAD supporters began blocking roads leading to the parliament with tyres and barbed wire yesterday, marking the latest attempt by the movement to oust the government since it rallied protestors to occupy the grounds outside the government's premises on August 26.
