Budget Not Aggressive Enough
February 2009 | Market StrategyBMI View: Hong Kong's newly unveiled budget appears vague and may not be aggressive enough in the current economic downturn. With recent export and GDP numbers confirming a highly challenging year ahead, we would have expected more policies aimed at helping employees retain their jobs and more efforts done to boost private consumption. Therefore, it looks probable that more off-budget measures will be implemented in the coming months to complement the presented budget.
