Economy Stabilising, But Challenges Remain

BMI View: The Pakistani economy is slowly stabilising, following a highly turbulent 2008, with inflation decelerating and the twin deficit situation improving. However, with the economy losing steam, pressure on the already rickety fiscal accounts will increase and this is likely to manifest itself in a wider deficit in FY2009/10.
