Interbank Rates Slow To Come Down

Central bank efforts to encourage bank lending have had little immediate effect on interbank rates. With the loan-to-deposit ratio still over 100% and banks building up their provisions for non-performing loans, we believe that cautious lending practices will remain the order of the day in the short term. Looking into 2010, conditions are likely to improve, along with the UAE's macroeconomic outlook.
