IMF Support Encouraging, But Debt Woes To Persist

BMI View: Jamaica's dire fiscal and external accounts remain a source of apprehension among investors, with an IMF Stand-by Arrangement in the works. Fears of a sovereign default may recede once a loan is clinched, but the journey towards macroeconomic stability will be tortuous, with some form of debt restructuring still a likely scenario over the medium term.
