Monetary Easing: Is It Over Yet?

BMI View: Most major Sub-Saharan African countries including South Africa, Mauritius and Botswana have now ended their monetary easing cycles, and we expect the respective policy interest rates to remain on hold going into 2010. Ghana, however, is at a different stage of the cycle and we currently foresee a 50 basis point cut in early 2010.
