Industrial Production: China & India Examined

BMI View: Industrial output in India has bounced back strongly, recording growth of 9.1% y-o-y in September, aided in no small part by an impressive expansion of capital goods production. While data from China appear to show an even faster resurgence, we believe that the Indian recovery story will be much more sustainable in 2010 and beyond, given the less prominent role that credit expansion has played in driving industrial activity.
