EU Panels Rejects Shoe Duties

On November 19, an EU panel rejected a proposed extension of shoe duties on Chinese and Vietnamese leather shoes beyond January 3 2010. However, we believe that the proposed 15-month extension of import duties of up to 10% on Vietnamese leather shoes will still be approved by EU trade ministers voting on the issue in December as the political momentum is in favour of shielding domestic production in southern Europe.
