Piñera Victory To Spur IGPA
January 2010 | Market StrategyHaving repeatedly insisted that he would not openly support either of the two remaining candidates in Chile's presidential election, eliminated challenger Marco Enríquez-Ominami has announced his endorsement of Eduardo Frei, candidate of the ruling leftist Concertación de Partidos por la Democracia (CPD) coalition. Enríquez-Ominami, who broke away from the CPD to stand as an independent in December's first round election, had previously resisted heavy pressure from his former party to back Frei, despite the latter trailing consistently in opinion polls ahead of the run-off election on January 17.
