Strong Q4 But Bigger Picture Still Bearish

BMI View: While Japanese real GDP growth surprised to the upside in the fourth quarter of 2009, the bigger picture still offers precious little scope for optimism. With public spending rising at the expense of private investment - and Japan's net savings pool diminishing - there is little doubt that the country's unsustainable debt path will be found out in the coming years.
