Allegations of corruption contained in recently published Wikileaks cables are the latest in a long line of scandals to hit President Leonel Fernández's government, which could in our view seriously affect investor sentiment. The cables accuse three key figures in the ruling Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD) party, ex-tourism minister Felix Jiminez, ex-CEO of the state electricity company Radhames Segura, and economy minister Temistocles Monta, of accepting bribes "audaciously" to either promote or stall investment projects.
