Fiscal Situation To Remain Shaky
January 2011 | Economic AnalysisWhile Q310 shows that the Dominican Republic's fiscal situation has improved markedly, registering a surplus for the first time since 2007, we still believe the government has some way to go before its accounts are fully in order. The majority of the surplus is the result of an uptick in income, whilst expenditure remains far too high, and we continue to expect a nominal deficit of 3.0% of GDP for 2011.
