The Bolivian administration has clashed with the US once again over the issue of coca. President Evo Morales of Bolivia intends to overturn a ban on the chewing of coca leaves as enshrined in the UN Convention on Narcotic Drugs, claiming that the practice should be protected as part of the ancestral heritage of the Andean culture. However, the US argues that turning over the ban will undermine its war on drugs in the Latin America region.
