Long-Term Stability In Serious Doubt
February 2011 | Political Risk AnalysisBMI View: Although we still believe that Saudi Arabia can avoid the kind of popular uprisings currently rocking the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in the near term, we acknowledge that these events have torn up the 'conventional wisdom' about regime stability in the region. Saudi Arabia has substantial internal challenges, and even if the current MENA unrest does not spread to the Kingdom, we find it difficult to see how it can avoid public unrest and potentially systemic change over the course of this decade.
