Election Race Becoming Even Closer
March 2011 | Political Risk AnalysisThe most recent poll data to come out of Peru confirms our view that while a victory for Alejandro Toledo is highly likely, the race for the second place is becoming increasingly close. Ollanta Humala is gaining rapidly on current second and third place candidates Keiko Fujimori and Luis CastaƱeda, with the most recent poll suggesting that they have 16%, 19% and 17% support, respectively. Moreover, according to the local press, Humala's performed particularly well in the presidential debate on March 13, and we expect his focus on social policies and the redistribution of wealth to continue
