The recently-announced purge of radical Islamic preaching by King Mohammed appears to be taking effect in Morocco. After issuing a warning to those Islamists who doubt his stature as the most important religious figure in the country last month, he has since announced the formation of two bodies to oversee Islamic teachings. One will deal with the building of places of worship and the other will monitor how these projects are funded. There has also been an encouraging breakthrough with respect to the investigation into the suicide bombings, which took place a year ago in Casablanca and killed 45 people.
