With emerging debt spreads nearing their tightest point for the year, our surveyed banks are taking stock of recent bullish sentiment. As a result, the November Bond Sentiment Index has slipped back to 99.2, from 100.1 last month. Although the fundamental outlook of emerging markets is positive in general, there is concern in several quarters of the risk from higher US Treasury yields over the coming months. Furthermore, as many of the sovereign instruments approach key resistance levels, country specific issues are coming to the fore, leading to interesting movements within the regional indices, as banks pursue the more fiscally sound at this important juncture for the emerging markets asset class.
